WORKERS MEMORIAL DAY 2021
Each year on April 28th we recognize Workers Memorial Day.
Working people and their unions pay tribute to those who have been
hurt or killed on the job during the past years. Thankfully,
Local 211 has not lost any brothers or sisters in the past
year. Unfortunately, the UAW did lose members, all killed on
the job since we observed Workers Memorial Day in 2021.
The UAW along with other Unions across the U.S. observe this Workers
Memorial Day, every April 28th to remember those who have suffered
and died on the job and to renew the fight for safe
workplaces. Trade unionists around the world mark April 28th
as an International Day of Remembrance.
Not just on April 28th of every year but every day, we must fight for safe and healthy jobs across the nation. All of us should be involved in the fight for a safe and healthy workplace and make sure everyone gets home safely, every day of the year. Thank you everyone for attending today’s event. I would also like to thank Steve Hartwig and his staff for allowing us to continue this Worker’s Memorial tradition each year. Also thank you to the volunteers who carried the flags today. Please be safe returning to work today and every day, we never want to add an 18th flag.
