Our
local union has lost eighteen brothers due to accidents while
performing their duties. Every year in April, Workers
Memorial Day
is observed to remember those who have
suffered and died on the job and to renew
our efforts for safe workplaces.
These UAW Local 211
members shall always remain in our hearts.

I write these
words of honor, for those who gave their lives;
And for their families, their husbands and their wives.
For those whose lives were spent, doing what they must
Working for a living like every one of us.
Their time cut short, by things that didn’t have to be;
To make the workplace safer, for people like you and me.
To make sure their stories will never go untold;
To always keep their memories from ever growing cold.
We must remember the price they all had to pay;
When we honor the men and women on Workers Memorial Day.

Memorial Day
Let us pray. Father God, we come before you this day
in the
name of our Lord Jesus Christ. We call to remembrance those who died
while working for
their families. We pray you comfort these families and heal their
hearts and minds. Thank you
Lord, that we have learned from these events that others may go home
safely. We still miss them
and we hope and pray to be with them one day
in heaven, in Jesus Name we pray. Amen. -UAW Local 211
